Cookie Policy
1. Cookies
brainplane.app runs no advertising and no tracking pixels. It counts visits with Google Analytics 4 only if you accept it in the cookie banner. Before you choose, and if you refuse, the site loads nothing from Google and sets no analytics cookie. Fonts and images are served from brainplane.app itself.
The site can set these cookies:
| Name | Purpose | Set when | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
__Host-bp_session | Keeps you signed in to My account. HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax, readable only by brainplane.app | When you sign in with your email code | 30 days without use, or until you sign out |
_ga | Google Analytics: a random identifier that tells 1 browser from another, to count visits | Only after you press Accept | 13 months |
_ga_<ID> | Google Analytics: keeps the state of your visit (<ID> is our measurement ID) | Only after you press Accept | 13 months |
The session cookie is strictly necessary for the account you asked to use, so it needs no consent (Directive 2002/58/EC article 5(3) and the national laws that apply it). It holds a random value and contains no email address. The Google Analytics cookies are not necessary, so they are set only with your consent.
2. Audience measurement with Google Analytics, only with your consent
| Provider | Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, and Google LLC, which process the data for us under Google's data processing terms for Google Analytics |
| What it measures | The pages you view (address without its query string), the site that sent you (its address only), clicks on the Download button and, through Google's enhanced measurement, how far you scroll, clicks on links to other sites and form interactions. Also your device type and browser, and an approximate location that Google derives from your IP address |
| What it does not do | No advertising, no Google signals, no ad personalization, no data sharing with other Google products. Advertising storage stays refused. Google receives your IP address when the tag connects; Google says Google Analytics 4 uses it at collection and does not log or store the individual IP address |
| Where it runs | Every public page. Never on My account or the Buy pages |
| Legal basis | Your consent |
| How long | Google Analytics is set to keep user-level and event-level data for 14 months. Its standard aggregated reports can remain longer, and the user retention period may restart after new activity. The cookies last 13 months |
| Transfers | Google LLC may process the data in the United States. For transfers from the EEA to Google LLC, which is certified, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For transfers from the United Kingdom, we rely on its UK Extension |
| Withdraw | Open Cookie settings in the footer of any page to change or withdraw your choice. If you refuse after accepting, the site stops measurement and deletes the _ga cookies. Your choice is asked again after 6 months |
We use the counts to see how many people visit, which pages and sources bring them, and how many download the app. Payments, licences and refunds are never sent to Google Analytics.
3. What the website stores on your device
If you press the day and night switch, your browser saves your choice on your device, so the next page opens in the same theme.
| Name | Type | Content | Set when | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
bp-site-theme | Browser local storage | light or dark | Only when you press the theme switch | Until you clear your browser's site data |
bp-consent | Browser local storage | Your cookie choice and its date | When you press Accept, Reject or Save choices | 6 months, then we ask again |
These values stay on your device. Our site reads them in your browser to restore your theme and to respect your cookie choice. They provide what you asked for, so they need no consent. If your browser blocks storage, the switch still works for the page you are on, and the banner asks again on the next page.
4. The waitlist form
The form sends your email address to our server. To stop repeated sign-ups, the server holds your IP address in memory for up to 10 minutes. Nothing is stored on your device. Details in the Privacy Policy.
5. The brainplane app
The Mac app shows its own pages from a server on your Mac (127.0.0.1). That local page uses 1 session cookie (bp_session, HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict) to keep your login to your own brainplane and to block requests from other sites. It also keeps display choices, such as a remembered filter, in the local storage of that page. All of this stays on your Mac and is never sent to us or to any other site.
6. Changes
If we ever add a cookie or a similar technology that is not strictly needed, we will ask for your consent first and update this page before it goes live.
